Celebrating Over 40 Years of Professional Live Theatre—And the Best Is Yet to Come!

At Theatre Collingwood, 2026 marks an exciting new chapter as we continue to welcome audiences, artists, and learners of all ages to experience the magic of live performance. Our mission remains at the heart of everything we do: to enrich, inspire, and entertain our community and visitors by showcasing outstanding professional talent and offering drama education programs that spark creativity, confidence, and connection.

As we look ahead, our vision is brighter than ever. We are proud to be Collingwood’s foremost and longest-standing professional performance company, now taking a more regional approach and committed to expanding the artistic landscape of South Georgian Bay. Through meaningful collaboration and inclusive programming, we strive to make the arts accessible and engaging for everyone.

We are also dedicated to the dream of the development of a NEW, PURPOSE-BUILT Centre for Arts & Culture in Collingwood—a vibrant hub that will elevate creativity, nurture emerging talent, and strengthen the cultural fabric of our region for generations to come.

Join us in 2026 for unforgettable shows, inspiring education programs, and a community that celebrates the power of the arts. You’re always welcome at Theatre Collingwood!

The People

40 years ago a small but mighty group of community members, led by the visionary Barbara Weider, felt passionate about the fact that arts & culture was important in a community and that Collingwood needed a theatre company.
  • 1984

Kevin McCormick was the founding Artistic Director and led the team to create delightful performances for the community and visitors. Kevin went on to create many productions in Toronto and then to become the Executive & Artistic Director for Toronto Equity Showcase.

  • 1997

Steven Thomas was Artistic Director for Theatre Collingwood from 1997-2012 and brought to Theatre Collingwood his many talents and vision, producing a range of Canadian and international literature.

  • 2013

In 2013 Executive Director Erica Angus was brought on board to transition the company into a presenting company, fostering relationships with other regional theatres and independent artists. Her expertise has driven the company into what it is today, a strong theatre company presenting some of Canada’s most talented performers (north of the big city), while fostering relationships with artists to develop new projects, empowering the artists in their creative process, and additionally developing education programs for adults and youth. During her tenure the Porchside Festival was born, to the delight of the many outdoor entertainment lovers who attend each July. The future is bright for Theatre Collingwood!
