Youth Programming in Collingwood and Georgian Bay
Where Young Performers Take Centre Stage
At Theatre Collingwood, we believe the stage is one of the best places for young people to discover who they are.
Whether your child is stepping into the spotlight for the very first time or already dreaming of opening night, our youth programming in Collingwood & Georgian Bay is designed to build confidence, spark imagination, and create friendships that last long after the curtain comes down.
Curious first-timers can test the waters at our week-long Drama Camps, running every March Break and throughout July and August. Packed with theatre games, skill-building and plenty of fun, each week wraps up with a showcase for family and friends. Young triple threats aged 9 to 12 can sing, dance and act their way through Forte!, Our fall after-school musical theatre programme, where participants train for ten weeks and then perform in a real Theatre Collingwood production. And for teens ready to take the next step, the Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory offers an audition-based, 12-week rehearsal experience, with a musical theatre session in the spring and a drama intensive in the fall, each ending in a fully produced public performance.
What makes our programs truly special is where much of the magic happens. Through our partnership with our friends at Chartwell Balmoral, Conservatory students rehearse and hold classes alongside senior residents, creating a one-of-a-kind intergenerational connection where young performers and seasoned arts lovers share stories, swap ideas and cheer each other on.
This December, our Teen Conservatory and Forte! students join forces for a fresh take on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, blending classical text with modern language. Come see what our young artists can do, and find the program where your performer belongs!
Drama Camps
Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory
Established in 2026, The Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory is a program designed to elevate the skills of passionate teenage performing artists, provide them with real-world production experience, and prepare them to make educated choices about a future involving the arts.
Two sessions of the TCTC will run annually. The Spring Session of The Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory focuses on Musical Theatre, with students collaborating to build a fully produced musical. The Fall Session features a Drama Intensive Program, ultimately producing a dramatic play which will be presented publicly.
Admission to the Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory is by audition. Successful applicants will participate in a 12-Week skill-building rehearsal program. 2026 participants are currently hard at work on an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare. TCTC’s Romeo & Juliet will feature a mix of classical text and modern language, and will be seen on Theatre Collingwood stages in December of 2026.
Auditions for the Spring Session of the TCTC will take place in February 2027. Stay tuned!
Forte! After-School Musical Theatre Program
Forte! is Theatre Collingwood’s triple-threat after-school program musical theatre program. Running once annually in the fall, Forte! offers young people aged 9-12 the opportunity to grow their musical theatre skills and ultimately perform in a Theatre Collingwood show!
Following their successful audition and selection for the program, participants will enter into a 10 week class schedule that includes vocal training, dance choreography, and acting exercises. Past participants have performed in the youth ensemble for Alice in Wonderland: The Panto and The Little Mermaid: The Panto.
Coming up next: our 2026 Forte! Students will take the stage this December as a part of the Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory’s upcoming production of Romeo & Juliet.
Intergenerational Connections
Theatre Collingwood enjoys a special partnership with our friends at Chartwell Balmoral. Throughout the year, Theatre Collingwood runs workshops for adult and senior arts enthusiasts in the main residence building located on Harbour Street West in Collingwood. The Theatre Collingwood Teen Conservatory rehearses their productions and holds their classes at Chartwell Balmoral through a program that encourages students and senior residents to interact, communicate, and connect with one another.
