A Staged Reading of A Christmas Carol
Friday, December 20th, 2019 at 7pm. at First Presbyterian Church, Collingwood
Written by Charles Dickens
Direction by Erica Angus & presented by Theatre Collingwood
In 1843, Charles Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol was published, and the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge has touched the hearts of readers and audiences ever since.
This holiday season Theatre Collingwood will bring the Victorian classic to the stage as it would have been performed in a radio studio in the 1930s, as a dramatic reading. It is our desire to create an event that is fun and entertaining for all ages, and will bring the community together for a holiday celebration.
The production will be directed by Theatre Collingwood’s executive director, Erica Angus, and the roles will be performed by community members and local actors.
The performance will be approximately one hour long, at which point we will invite everyone to join us for a holiday reception with the cast, including mulled cider and Christmas baking. The price of admission for this evening will be $25/ticket.
Proceeds from this event will go to support Theatre Collingwood’s programming and our youth drama education program. All performers are donating their time and efforts. Theatre Collingwood is a non-profit theatre company with charitable status. Our mission is to enrich and entertain our South Georgian Bay community, and visitors to the region, by presenting and producing live professional theatre. It is our goal to tell great stories while bringing the community together in a positive way, and always in a facility that is accessible to all.
In keeping with the festive time of year, we will be accepting financial donations this evening in support of the Actors Fund of Canada, which is a lifeline for Canadian actors in financial need.
